How you can comply with the ELV Regulations

The End-of-Life Vehicle Regulations place responsibility on all importers of vehicles to play their part in the recycling and recovery of vehicles when they come to the end of their useful operational life.

If you are an importer of new or used cars (M1) or light commercials (N1), then you are required to be compliant with the ELV Regulations.

To be compliant you have two options; join ELVES or self-comply with the Regulations.

Join ELVES

Register with just one organisation (ELVES), complete one page application form

Compliance fee considerably cheaper than self-compliance

No need to contract with a network of ATFs (ELVES has done this for you)

Self-Compliance

Register with all 31 Local Authorities

Pay registration fees to Local Authority:

  • 10+ cars – €31,000 minimum (€1,000 per Local Authority)
  • Under 10 cars - €1,000

Contract with at least 47 Authorised Treatment Facilities (scrapyards) around the country
